Early Arabic graffiti from Jordan

This 12-month project was funded by The Barakat Trust, and focussed on gathering together Arabic inscriptions from the harra region in Jordan. Many of these inscriptions had been found and documented as part of the OCIANA Project, but fell outside of the remit of that research. Dr Ali Al-Manser and Dr Michael Macdonald were both keen to ensure that these important inscriptions were given the attention they deserved, and were made available online to researchers, particularly those working on early Arabic language.
