The KRC Management Committee has approved the institution of a grant scheme for the academic years 2025–26 and 2026–27, aimed at funding advanced research in the field of Islamic numismatics, epigraphy, and material culture (broadly defined, but pre-1900). All staff from the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (including post-docs and visiting scholars) and GLAM are eligible to apply, with the exception of the KRC director. The amount of any grant depends upon the scope and significance of the applicant's project and cannot exceed £5,000. To apply, please submit a statement explaining the relevance of your research to the field of Islamic numismatics, epigraphy, and material culture (1,000 words max) and a breakdown of the costs to krc@ames.ox.ac.uk. The deadline for the current academic year is Monday 26 October 2026, 12 PM. Applications will be reviewed and ranked by a small panel chaired by the KRC director, and the outcome will be presented to the KRC Management Committee for approval at the Michaelmas Term meeting (11 November 2026).
